This privacy policy covers both this website (dougeubanks.com) and the iOS and macOS applications I publish, including TaskScratch. I try to keep this short and in plain language because that reflects how I actually handle your data: I collect as little as possible, and I don't sell, share, or monetize any of it.
TaskScratch (iOS / macOS)
TaskScratch does not collect analytics, crash reports, usage metrics, location, advertising identifiers, or any personal information. No third-party SDKs are embedded in the app for tracking or telemetry.
All data you create in TaskScratch stays on your device. If you have iCloud enabled, the app syncs your data between your own Apple devices using CloudKit's private database. The private database is encrypted and only accessible to the Apple ID signed in on your devices — I have no administrative access to your private zone, no server of my own, and no way to read your data. iCloud sync is governed by Apple's privacy policy .
TaskScratch lets you export lists as Markdown or plain text. When you tap Export, the content is handed to Apple's share sheet so you can send it via Mail, Messages, AirDrop, or any other share extension you choose. Exports only happen when you explicitly initiate them, and I do not operate any intermediate service that stores, inspects, or retains the exported content — it goes directly from your device to whatever destination you pick.
A future version of the app is planned to support iCloud collaboration (CloudKit shared zones) so you can invite specific people to a shared list. When that ships, collaboration will still run entirely through Apple's CloudKit — I will not have access to the shared content, and this policy will be updated to describe it more concretely.
Because I don't collect anything, there's nothing for me to delete, export, or hand over. If you want to remove your data, delete the app and, if you used iCloud sync, remove the app's data from your iCloud account in your device's Settings.
This Website
I run a self-hosted instance of Matomo to understand basic traffic patterns on this site — things like which pages are popular and roughly where visitors come from. Matomo is a privacy-respecting, open-source analytics tool, and my instance is configured to anonymize IP addresses.
No data collected by Matomo is shared with third parties, sold, or used for advertising. I do not use Google Analytics, Facebook pixels, or other cross-site trackers. The site does not set advertising cookies.
If you'd prefer not to be counted at all, enabling "Do Not Track" in your browser, or using a content blocker that blocks Matomo, is respected.
Contact
If you have questions about this policy, or want to know whether any data about you exists on my systems (spoiler: almost certainly not), you can reach me through the contact methods listed on the About page.
Changes
If this policy changes meaningfully, I'll update the date at the top of the page. Material changes to how the iOS/macOS apps handle data will also be noted in the app's App Store release notes.
